Tourism Valorization of the St Anthony's Channel – 2nd Phase

This project represents a continuation of the project entitled Tourism Valorization of the St Anthony's Channel, which was declared by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds third most successful local EU project in Croatia in the period 2012 – 2014, which proves the possibility of replication of results, as this project, being an example of good practice, can serve as a starting point for future similar projects at a local level across Croatia.

The objective of the project is to preserve biological and landscape diversity, to improve attractiveness and educational capacity as well as to enhance tourism and economic potential of the significant landscape Channel – Port in Šibenik and the ecological network Natura 2000 Krka Delta through landscaping, equipping and creating facilities for a visitor centre in order to contribute to sustainable social and economic development at a local and regional level.

Despite the fact that the infrastructure investments are mainly related to Minerska Cove, a wider scope of the planned investments is to set up a visitor centre as the central point for presenting the totality of natural values across the entire territory of the Šibenik-Knin County, which are managed by the Public Institution Nature of the Šibenik-Knin County as well as various other activities aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of preserving biological and landscape diversity.

The project beneficiary is the Public Institution Nature of the Šibenik-Knin County and its partners are the Šibenik-Knin County, the Public Institution Development Agency of the Šibenik-Knin County and the Šibenik-Knin County Tourist Board.

The project is co-funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. The total project value is 26.554.752, 95 euros, with 19.633.561, 16 euros obtained through EU non-refundable funds and the rest will be largely co-financed by the Šibenik-Knin County. The project will be also co-financed by the Public Institution for the Management of Protected Areas and Other Protected Natural Values of the Šibenik-Knin County, the Šibenik Tourist Board and the Public Institution Development Agency.
